    The department of international economic relations was founded in 2016 based on the merger of two departments – Department of International Economics, which was established in 1995, and the Department of International Business and Applied Economics, which was founded within the project EU “Creating new economic specialization on graduate level in classic universities Ukraine” in 2002

   The mission of the department of international economic relations of Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University – proceeding on high- level educational activities, which provides training of highly educated and intellectual personality – professionals of international economic relations, capable of taking part in the provision of social and economic development of the state through the use of acquired during training competencies with high moral values, socially active civic position and responsibility, capable of self-organization and self-development in modern conditions.

Vision of the department – a structural unit of the university, which conducts its educational, methodological and scientific activities, based on the principles of academic freedom, integrity, collegiality of management, and implements its development strategy in accordance with the main priorities and objectives of the University Development Strategy.

The purpose of development – ensuring quality education, which meets the demands of society, accepted standards and principles of the European area of higher education and global trends in the development of education.

           The main strategic priorities of the Department of International Economic Relations:

  • pragmatization of educational activities of the department in order to ensure quality, student-centeredness and competitiveness;

  •  change the concept of teaching at the department in the context of strengthening its research capacity, using the results of scientific activities in teaching educational courses, strengthening practice-oriented content of educational programs;

  •  development of a network of partnerships with external stakeholders in the regional, national and international markets, involvement of employers in the formation of educational programs of the department;

  •  further internationalization of educational programs and activities of the department;

  •  spreading the potential of using digital technologies in educational and scientific activities of the department;

  •  formation of a culture of academic integrity and corporate loyalty.

   High quality of education, confirmed by the professionalism of the teaching staff – the department employs highly qualified, experienced specialists, doctors and candidates of science with extensive experience in practical activities in the field of international economic relations. Teaching process is performed by software, which correspond to the modern world by international standards, with the use of new techniques.

The department provides a full course of study in the specialty 292 “International Economic Relations”: bachelor’s, master’s, PhD and doctoral degrees.

Carrying out educational and scientific activities, the department develops international relations in the following areas:

  • internships for students abroad;
  • participation in international conferences;
  • organization of international scientific events;
  • participation in international projects (TEMPUS, ERASMUS +, SOFT SKILLS, REAP, USAID).

Doctors and students of the department take an active part in international exchange of experience, conferences, seminars and internships. 

History of the department

The Scientific School of International Economic Relations developed thanks to the staff of the Departments of International Economics and International Business and Applied Economics.

Since September 2016, thanks to the merger of these two departments, promising areas of activity of the scientific school have been developed, in particular, the work is focused on the formation of international competitiveness of Ukraine and Vinnytsia region.
